About the Opportunity

Cameo Consulting Group, LLC, a leading management consulting firm specializing in federal government solutions, is seeking highly skilled Senior Paralegals to support the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the Western District of Texas. This is a unique opportunity to support the U.S. Customs & Border Patrol on Western Texas Border Fence litigation matters in San Antonio, Texas .

This is a contingent position pending the award of a federal contract. We are looking for detail-oriented, experienced professionals with a strong background in legal research, records analysis, and trial preparation to join our team and make a significant impact on high-profile federal litigation.

Position Overview

The Senior Paralegal will work directly with Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs), providing professional litigation support services for Western Texas Border Fence actions. This includes performing legal research, conducting title reviews, assisting with witness interviews, preparing court documents, supporting trial preparation, and managing case files .

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist AUSAs in conducting witness interviews and preparing records of interviews for use in depositions.
  • Review title commitments for accuracy and create deed history summaries.
  • Prepare Declarations of Taking Reports, Amended Declarations of Taking (ADT) Reports, Complaints, Notices, Joint Motions to Close, and Motions to Suppress.
  • Summarize depositions and other transcripts; maintain case files; and control exhibits and materials at depositions and trial.
  • Document landowner complaints and responses in monthly reports.
  • Support attorneys in the courtroom by preparing exhibit cross-references and screening documents for relevance and privilege.
  • Identify and interpret data from various record-keeping systems, including computer information systems.
  • Develop statistics, tabulations, charts, graphs, and tables to illustrate data results for case litigation.
  • Design and develop systems and procedures for tracking, controlling, and managing case files, exhibits, and other case-specific materials.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Two-year degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, English/Journalism, or a related field; OR a high school diploma/equivalent combined with a Paralegal Certificate.
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of experience providing legal support, including independently drafting correspondence, pleadings, motions, and proposed orders.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Legal Knowledge: Experience with real estate, mineral interests, and oil and gas matters is preferred.
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Security: Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Public Trust clearance. This requires passing a background investigation, meeting DOJ citizenship and residency requirements, and completing necessary pre-employment forms .

Preferred Qualifications

  • Legal experience in real estate, mineral interests, and oil and gas matters.
  • Experience with federal litigation and border fence actions is a plus.

Work Environment & Conditions

  • Location: This is an on-site position at the U.S. Attorney's Office, 601 N.W. Loop 410, Ste 600, San Antonio, TX 78216 .
  • Hours: Standard core business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CT.
  • Overtime: Overtime is anticipated and must be authorized in advance by the COR or Contracting Officer .
  • Travel: Local travel within 50 miles of the USAO worksite is not reimbursed. Reimbursable travel must be pre-approved and will follow Federal Travel Regulations (FTR).
